Dr. Sunder is the Founder and Managing Trustee of FREEDOM (Foundation for the Rehabilitation Education and Empowerment of the Disabled of Madras) Trust and Director of Prem Inpatient Rehabilitation Center, Chennai. Other awards he has recieved are Dr. Sanjivi award for social service by CIOSA and an award for vocational execellence by Rotary. He has written a text book on Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
